Back when I used to care too much about all things music…

that sounds harsh. i still buy new records… all the time… just not the one’s that you might buy, or think that i buy. i don’t know what is happening to me. i went this long being a fucking music/pop culture junkie whore……………………………………………………………. and then, i had a little boy. he changed everything for me. i talk to a lot of my friends who are in a similar place in life (or have already been there) with kids, careers, or being a kid with your career, etc.. they all say the same thing.. “I watch more “Yo Gabba Gabba” than listen to the latest Hot Chip record these days”. i get that. and the weird thing is… i fucking LOVE it. ironically, i wrote and recorded my most successful and critically tolerated record of my career last year… when i stopped listening to music. what the fuck is going on here???? i like music MORE now than i did when i used to listen to it????? don’t get me wrong. i’m not gonna fight it… i just thought it was interesting. i am sure that it doesn’t hurt that i have years and years of music and useless trivia bogged and packed into the corners of my frontal lobe up to this date, but now that i don’t even want to turn on the radio in my car….. i don’t know… i’ll shut up. this song ain’t gonna suck itself…
