what…. me? nervous????

i don’t know why i was so out of my element last night at the PabLove benefit.. don’t get me wrong. it was awesome and i got to flanked by the angels abigail and Lily Chapin to sing… i was just…. nervous. i get that way sometimes. maybe it was because they were brand new songs i have never played. had the lyrics taped to my guitar ;-)

all in all, it was probably because when the cause is such a heavy thing, you feel like you have to represent on a whole other level of good. something i don’t know is possible when you are taking the event to heart so much. and plus, i was a bit starstruck too.. i looked over on the side of the stage while playing, and there was Butch Vig, Tom Morello, Greg Kurstin (my fave producer of the moment), BRMC, Sea Wolf, and Jeff (Pablo’s dad). that was all enough to make me a little shaky and weirded out! but we pulled it out! i played all new songs from the forthcoming record (Canadian Ten, Don’t You Think Someone Should Take You Home, and Be Good Until Then), and felt like they translated pretty damn good for just me, wes, and the girls singing and playing them. i am so glad for Jeff. the night was perfect, the vibe was honest and sentimental, his speech was emotional and heartfelt, and the turnout was insane. you can’t wish for better nights. Pablo, i never met you, but you were very loved and very missed last night.
