And so the trail of memories….

I can’t help but sometimes get thrown into a weird, nostalgic black hole on the interwebs, looking at all things I grew up on. The horrible music videos, the old commercials, the old style in general. Knowing that what is new now, will soon be old. And then I started thinking about my old friend Guy. He was a great and generous fellow that taught me a lot about rock music at a young age and introduced me to some people that would become my best friends and bandmates for the next 15 years. Guy was the politician of heavy rock in my little town back then. He was about 400lbs and not even an exaggeration when I say that. Also about 7 ft tall. A gentle giant with a heart of gold. We used to ride around in his convertible Mustang and listen to Van Halen and Iron Maiden. We would cruise the Krystal parking lot with a bottle of Crown Royal and coke. No one ever really talked about Guy and his weight problem. They just talked about Guy. He was so generous and passionate about music. We Went to concerts together. We saw Motley Crüe together. Guy decided to take his own life a few years ago. We had fallen out of touch for years. When I went to his Myspace page after I heard of his passing, he had me in his Top friends and in his “influences” section as well. I never want to lose touch with who I am or who helped me become… Never forget your friends. I almost did. I miss you Guy….
